Freeloading

There is a lot of killer content out there, some of it is useful some does just that to your concentration. I’m more of a blog reader, though I also listen to podcasts as I work, travel to work or just out and about. One of the things which has struck me and other is how these videos make money.

Looking at the business side of these services is important if you want to understand the reason why they can keep this stream of content and information flowing. They get advertising money from adverts on their videos from the streaming channel. This is now being stopped by google for less desirable videos as there is a concern that too many truthful videos are benefiting from businesses who are purely interested in keeping you distracted with superficial and none nonsensical videos.

Most of the people who do truth seeking or providing videos could benefit from continuing to get the advertising money from these video which you watch without paying but google (in reference to YouTube has stopped this). Before my tirade ends, I have heard and seen some videos where these Video bloggers and podcasters have asked for financial support but there has been a lack of support from blacks, which is typical of my own people, we would rather pay a European for the same request and why because we do not value our own products.

There have been some instances where some people have asked for donations and the audience of the blog have told that person to get a job, or why should they pay for it. These are the kind of people that queue up for the latest gadget or item of clothing or have subscriptions to something which they rarely watch or because there friends have it, when that money could be used for something which they may have watched for years.

A way around this which I have discussed in a previous blog is the video blogger could have adverts at the start, middle and end of the videos, this way you will not be able to complain about the video blogger asking you for money and you will be able to continue to access your free information.

The other alternative to this is where a video blogger had decided to not bother create or release any content until they got a minimum number of donations or supporters on a service named patreon. If you have watched a lot of this persons content putting something towards it shows you will have a level of ownership.

An Apologetic African

If you had read a blog which I had written in 2015, July you would have known that I would have eulogised Dr Umar Johnson to some degree, thankfully my blogs on people dont get read but I am learning since the UK left the European Union how well supported black people are in the UK.

The piece had as follows:

“So I discuss Dr Umar Johnson, he for me is a genius, maverick and leader, a leader in my opinion and reading is the following:

Honesty

reliability

Communication

Confidence

Commitment

Positivitiy

Intuition

Ability to inspire”

The person in question has some of the qualities of a leader but is not a leader rather a good orator. Lets start with the qualities he doesn’t have, which I have realised over the last year or so. Reliability, honesty, commitment and positivity, starting with reliability, it has been 2/3 years since the crowdfunding campaign started and as yet he hasn’t provided plans or updates, which is well documented. Commitment, this was deemed null and void in his claims to be a pan African after the Brexit vote since he like other black Americans did not care for black people in the UK, just a one way relationship – taking. The other is positivity, which broke the camels back (with me) since he responded to silly argument, which wasn’t that bad and exposed his bad personality.

He has communication as a great orator, ability to inspire as he can motivate or at least energise people with his speeches and is over confident – I.e conceited. I would say that he will build a school but it wont be on the grand scale and questions should be asked as to why he has asked for more money. I have some private thoughts on what might be happening with the money but I will comment further on this at a later point.

The intuition part i suppose is not valid after revisiting this aspect 18 months later Though since brexit I have decided that most Black Americans over 75 have no advice or information for black people around the world and its a lost cause so I’ll look toward Africa and other place where blacks live. He is a genius alright the scam artist type, maverick in regards to his talking rubbish and leader of people who he wins over with his Leo (but no substance) charm.

But being a Capriquarious (Capricorn leaning Aquarious) I apologise for the blog I wrote and will update further on this matter, for those interested.

Films and Releases

Often I see people complaining about a movie not having enough black people or saying a film has enough black people in.

There are ways to overcome this, make your own. I have written blogs before outlining this. I’m no film buff but I’d be happy to try and facilitate the making of a film my project management experience and knowledge would be put to the text, though I use project management organise myself rather than being a project manager.

Enough waffle, I am aware a film can be expensive to make though you do not need to look to Hollywood to make one just make it simple with a great story line.

The Nate Parker film, I’ll watch it but I’m aware that black people have been at it again, mental masturbating and laying down excuses. If we as a people were motivated then more of our projects worldwide would get started and more of our films would be backed.

If you want to see a film which had yourself and reflects you watch Nollywood and if you have a big idea contact some Nollywood producers.

Black Reading and Listening Shows

Its been a while since I last blogged on a regular basis, but since the last two blogs on the Brexit and looking at black peoples history, I am asking a question about reading and writing.

So I will ask, rhetorically, do many of you watch Vlogs online more than reading of blogs. I often listen to podcasts but I also where possible read articles and blogs to keep upto date with news.

I find there are many black talking heads who post videos or podcasts, but vary rarley have a article in a publication or write a blog on what they do or topics they are talking about.

The reason, I believe is because black people do not like to read we like to watch at video, though I believe we should also have a literary element as video streaming is beginning to replace TV but this should not be the case as there are some people on these channels who talk for the sake of talking but no one is willing to write down what they are finding out, and some people are less willing to read.

One other thing is people are less willing to listen to podcasts, as they may not identify with listening to some intelligent speech but they should try it as you can listen whilst you are in the car, (in some cases) working and at home. Not everything should be watched, there is also reading and listening too. I hope there are some people who can begin to use these forms too.

Audio And Visual Plugging

Remembering back to the late 80’s and the early 90’s when
I would listen to pirate radio stations which would play
reggae and black music. These were ways in which black
people could play their music on the UK as the costs to
get a radio mast would be huge and for a Licence to play
songs this would be large too.

The radio stations still exist (on Analogue radio and as
internet radio stations) today in towns and cities across
the UK with a Afrocaibbean population. This is because we
originally created them to play our songs and music,
which would not be played on mainstream radio. Despite
them being illegal, many reggae artists do shout outs to
these radio stations, as they are channels which can be used to
bring more awareness of their music and songs.

The thing which these radio stations did which many of
the black people who talk about enlighted matters dont do
is promote local black owned businesses. As a kid when
recording these stations annoyance would set in as the
adverts would play but as a more enlightened adult I like
and understand the need for these adverts.

This links into the point of view that the enlightened
persons who provide information for black people should
have adverts on their audio and video posts for
businesses which are local or regional to them and some
of their following.

This will be useful to those with a large following and
the advertising would be for businesses which are
relevant to the demographic of the audience. On pirate
radio local black businesses advertise and you begin to
find out which businesses exist in that town or city and
also what events are going on locally and regionally.

As well as being able to provide opinions and information
you may also provide information on local businesses on
your videos and radio shows. The finer details in terms
of economic details for both parties are to be discussed
between yourselves.

Black People And Social Media

Social media has been important for black people to communicate with the breaking of news and sharing of information.

The thing, which we should consider is productivity, if you are productive then you will be on social media less and less.

Productivity in this blog is considering the use of skills or knowledge to create something beneficial for your people. I only see people posting old information re sharing news items and complaining about new things.

We all use social media to keep up with information and things in our interest areas. Using social media to keep up with black social, economic and political news can be one dimensional. There seems to be a pattern present a idea, debate then repeat the process again.

There seems to be very few who get up and go especially those who have a following. They can be responsible for a rise in followers and videos which are posted. Some even have podcasts but they do not have anything which points towards them doing action.

The thing to consider is how can you use social media effectively without living a social media reality and the real world is neglected.

How many of these people who do videos, plug other black businesses products, provide you with economic empowerment. There are some of these persons who provide events, or workshops though they are few and far between considering they make videos.

There was a video I saw with a guy saying Mexicans worked together on a derelict house in his area. Within 24 hours it was a different house as several people chipped in to work round the clock on the house.

This is an example of working together, black people will in a room say they will work together as the idea sounds good but when you turn up 85% of them wont have bothered or will be interested in something else.

The original and continuing aim of upliftment information is to provide information and resources where possible to improve the lives of black people to some degree.

The content is not the best or the greatest but the perspective it is written from hopes to provide you with a different insight which others dont provide.

The use of social media should be for sign posting and information gaining rather than extended debate. The energy for debates should be expressed in working as a group or team on more practical activities to support the forward movement of the things we debate and discuss.
